Oldstar is back, tour is back, and the blog is back. We're beyond excited to hit the road again. This time with like-minded country emo rockers Tombstone Poetry. Listen to their last record, How Could I Be In So Much Debt. It's incredible. They were our favorite band we played with on tour last summer, so to get to see them play every night is a privilege and a blessing.

In other news, I live in New York now, and so does most of the band. We're still repping Florida but y'know, I had to get out eventually. It's still home... We have a record coming out 03/07/25. It's called Of the Highway. There are two singles out already, on all platforms, go listen! I wrote most of the songs in Florida. Dream't up on my hour long commutes in the beating summer sun. Magnifyed by the windsheild of my a-c-less 94' Toyota.

When October hit, we packed up the van and recorded them in downtown Brooklyn. It was a strange experience at first, most of us have never been in a real studio, let alone one that nice. Through all the confusion we have a finished record that we are all very proud of. Oldstar went Hi-fi, is what the critics will say, all 3 of them. When the record releases all credits and lyrics will be posted to the blog, maybe I'll post some pictures or stories. Who knows?!  I'm going to try my best to not abandon the blog again, but dont hold me to it.

Peace and love - Zane

Oldstar Official Bio

A few months back I asked my friend Nathan to write a glowing bio about my rock band. I offered to pay him in his choice of lunch, which ended up being bahn mi with boba.

Nathan's bio.

"Oldstar is a country rock band from Panama City Beach, Florida. Centered around musical kingpin Zane Mclaughlin and supported by a rotating lineup of musicians, the group writes country standards for the new generation- painting vivid, compelling images of life on the fringes of a declining landscape. McLaughlin hybridizes the stylings of classic writers and musicians like Sam Shepard and Neil Young with the sensibilities of the hyper-modern small-scale bedroom music movement. In doing so, they strikingly convey disconnect and discomfort with remarkable precision and simultaneous senses of timelessness and immediacy through songs that sound like they have existed forever."
